World Health Day - Mental Health is Health

Today, is World Health Day. As a mental health professional, I believe mental health is health, but I do not see mental and physical health being separate from each other. I believe both impact one another and make up our overall health. So, on this World Health Day, take some time for self-reflection and consider what the state of your health is. Take an inventory of how you are functioning mentally. Have you experienced changes in your mood that is impacting your functioning? Consider your physical health and how you are taking care of your self. Are you eating healthy low-calorie foods and engaging in physical activity? As you engage in this self-reflection, schedule the necessary appointments with your health providers - medical doctor, dentist, optometrist/opthalmologist, therapist/counselor/licensed mental health providers. Your medical providers should all be working together for your overall health and well being. On this World Health Day, Your Health is Your Right and you have the right to live a healthy and whole life.
