31 Days of Joy - Day 26 - Joy of Unity
On December 26th, we start day one of the Kwanzaa celebration. Kwanzaa is a celebration of African American culture based on festival harvest traditions from Africa. The first day of Kwanzaa, represents the first principle - Umoja or Unity. For me unity represents supporting the well-being of all in my community, regardless of their socioeconomic status, gender, education level, religious preference, or race. As a person of African descent, unity also means ensuring that everyone in my race has access to equal and just resources. Unity is also reflected in supporting my family in a collective manner for the health and well-being of those of my kin. When we operate from unity, it brings joy because collectively we are all supported and feel that connection with others.
On day 26 of the 31 Days of Joy series, lets come together in unity and experience the joy that comes from a collective sense of community well-being.
Filled With Joy,
Dr. Daphne
