31 Days of Joy - Day 22 - Joy of Family
Yesterday, I shared about my grandparents and their love for one another. That love was also shared with their family. My grandparents love for one another fueled the love they had for their children and grandchildren. As a child, I have fond memories of my grandparents opening their home to their grandchildren. My grandparents had an open-door policy at their home for their family. My grandfather especially enjoyed his grandchildren coming to visit every day. I remember when I was in my early twenties and had moved out of the house (my mother and I lived with my grandparents), I had not been to visit my mother and grandparents for several weeks or spoken to them. My grandfather who did not like the use of telephones, actually used the telephone to call me and left a voice mail message aksing me if I remembered where home was and I knew it was time to come home for a visit. That is just one example of how my grandparents loved their family and really wanted their children and grandchildren to be connected and experience a strong bond as kin.
On day 22 of our 31 Days of Joy series, take some time to appreciate the joy of family. Family can be complex but their is nothing more rewarding as knowing the unconditional love of family. May you all experience the joy of family.
Filled with Joy,
Dr. Daphne
